The skrooge configuration is stored in the file ${HOME}/.config/skroogerc. Did you change or remove this file ?
Are you able to load your document?
Created attachment 122948 [details] Screenshot from 2019-09-30 08-56-36.png I am thinking my inexperience with the program and with Linux has been the source of all my problems..When looking at my files l do not see the ${HOME}/.config/skroogerc in that order and was wondering ..if l were to remove all of Skrooge program from my computer and reloaded it correctly might not be my solution. If i saved my data to a USB drive would l be able to recover it with a correctly installed program? I will be out of town for a few days so an immediate response is not necessary. Many thanks...l am enjoying the education though l hate to bother you with my mistakes.Dave On Saturday, September 28, 2019, 10:34:56 p.m. GMT+1, Stephane MANKOWSKI <bugzilla_noreply@kde.org> wrote: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412360 --- Comment #1 from Stephane MANKOWSKI <stephane@mankowski.fr> --- The skrooge configuration is stored in the file ${HOME}/.config/skroogerc. Hi, ${HOME}/.config/skroogerc means for you /home/dave/.config/skroogerc Your screen capture is the directory where the source code of Skrooge is stored. If you build (make) and install (sudo make install) skrooge. This directory is no more necessary because Skrooge is now installed on your system. So, now, you just have to launch skrooge and use file/open to open your document. Skrooge documents can be saved where you want (HD, USB drive, ...). Regards

This is normal, you can not open a document saved with Skrooge 2.15.0 with Skrooge 2.11.0. My advice: install the same version 2.15.0 on all computers. Can I close this incident?

No, you don't understand. You can open a document saved with a version of skrooge <= your current version of skrooge. It means that: - You can open a document saved with Skrooge 1.0 with Skrooge 2.15.0 - You can open a document saved with Skrooge 2.11.0 with Skrooge 2.15.0 - You can NOT open a document saved with Skrooge 2.15.0 with Skrooge 1.0 - You can NOT open a document saved with Skrooge 2.15.0 with Skrooge 2.11.0 This is the same with all other applications: - Microsoft Money 3.0 is not able to open a file saved with Money 2007 - World 6.0 is not able to open a document saved with Word 2019 So, if you install Skrooge 2.15.0 (or higher), you will be able to open all documents created before. So, you just have to take care to do not use an older version than the one you used to save your documents.
Created attachment 123065 [details] attachment-6743-0.html Ok l understand now..l guess the thing that happened was because l loaded the Skrooge program yesterday from the software manager on my wifes computer l believed it was a more recent version than the one l have on my computer mine being 2.15.0 and hers 2.11.0.The most recent version according to the skrooge.org web site is a 2.20.0.. what would be the best way to update the current versions on both computers ensuring they are properly deposited in the appropriate directories .The software manager, though easy to use, is not providing the most current stable versions l desire and l am not well versed in the required procedure to use the terminal. Created attachment 123115 [details] attachment-1308-0.html Well after the successful installation of 2.20.0 on my wifes computer earlier today this evening l made a back up copy of my current Skrooge files on a removable usb. I verified all was there then took the USB out of my computer.I then proceeded with the process you sent (below) to remove the program and reinstall however when completed l still had the 2.15.0 version.I then thought of all the previous attempts and different formats l had previously tried to update the program. I had downloaded flatpac, tar balls and the PPA's you had given me months ago and l began to think that maybe there was still a hidden version somewhere on the computer that it kept loading giving me the 2.15.0 again.I then removed all of the files in my computer that had any connection to the Skrooge program..removed all previous back ups, any files stored in Documents, checked my Download files, User files Temp files and could not locate any more Skrooge related files.I then proceed to once again follow the instructions you had provided and when completed the Skrooge program was still there in the 2.15.0 version all intact with my files still in place.I was assuming it would have resulted in a clean install with a blank document to which l was going to add the files l had saved onto the USB.I am so frustrated after having the installation go so well on my wifes computer. What can you suggest that l do to remove all traces of the 2.15.0 ? Is there possibly a complete system scan that l can perform to find any files that may be hidden deeper in the computer?I can continue with my daily business using my wifes computer but that would be inconvenient for both of us.Dave On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, 10:02:37 a.m. EDT, Stephane MANKOWSKI <bugzilla_noreply@kde.org> wrote: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=412360 --- Comment #13 from Stephane MANKOWSKI <stephane@mankowski.fr> --- Oups, my fault: You just have to do that: sudo apt remove skrooge* sudo add-apt-repository ppa:s-mankowski/ppa-kf5 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install skrooge-kf5
