Created attachment 122761 [details] Blurry video that shows the issue. SUMMARY Sometimes it happens that app icon drops out of the panel, when switching the virtual desktop. When I wanted to record this issue with the "SimpleScreenRecorder" app, the bug disappeared. Once I stopped the recording, the bug came back again. That's why I took a very blurry and shaky mobile phone video, which demonstrates the issue. The app, whose icon dropped out, was Dolphin. However, it also happened with Okular or Firefox. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 0. Unknown as not always reproducible 1. Open an app 2. Switch virtual desktops back and forth SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.62.0 Qt Version: 5.13.0
Created attachment 122778 [details] Screenrecording showing the issue on the upper left part of the panel. In total there are four virtual desktops positioned in a square. Konsole pinned to the panel. Thunderbird is running minimized on the lower left virtual desktop. In this demo I switch from the lower right to the to the lower left and back to the lower right virtual desktop. This time I have used the "Deepin Screen Recorder". The pixelation comes from a filter I applied to censor a part of the screen.
The default setting changed recently to only show tasks in the current VD. You can return to the prior behavior like so: Right-click on en empty area on your panel > Configure Icons-Only Task Manager > Behavior > uncheck "Show only tasks from the current desktop". The real bug here is that existing users' default settings for unexpectedly flipped; sorry about that. We don't really have a great way of adjusting default settings in a manner that says, "only ever do this for new user installs; never touch existing user installs".
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #2) > The default setting changed recently to only show tasks in the current VD. > You can return to the prior behavior like so: > That's not the issue as I already set this option myself before intentionally. The issue is, that this app, which drops out, actually belongs to the virtual desktop and I can only bring it back by Alt+Tab or by the "Windows Overview"-Effect (don't remember the name). ;) And anyway, there should not be any drop visualized, shouldn't it? :)
I think I got one step further to the reason, why this is happening: It seems to happen if I move an app to another virtual desktop by drag-and-dropping it in the virtual-desktop-overview-widget and then switch between the virtual desktop where the app belonged to and where it is currently.
Oh I see. How strange.
Can no longer reproduce it. :)
