SUMMARY Overall laggy performance on the steam version compared to the free version. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. ??? 2. ??? 3. ??? OBSERVED RESULT The steam version of Krita is overall laggy when trying to do anything with the canvas. Things like slower loading, laggy drawing on my tablet, slow rotation, slow brush changing, and there even is a little lag when changing some options. I've used different display options and even toggled the instant preview option to no effect. I've tried to do a fresh reinstall as well and there was no change. It should be mentioned as well that the free version I have doesn't have these issues, to the extent that the steam version has. EXPECTED RESULT Performance comparable to the free version on the steam version. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: windows 10 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I have a RTX 2070 with a i7 7700 with 16 gigs of ram. I use the software off of my SSD and my tablet is a Wacom intuos pro I got from five years ago. My drivers are up to date.
I am not aware of any difference in the source code between the Steam version and the free version. I guess it is possible there is a Steam layer that is doing some communication that is slowing something down a bit. Not sure if there is much we can do with this report.
There is no difference: it's exactly the same binary repackaged for Steam. I'll install it on my laptop to check.
On my T470P laptop with Intel GPU -- didn't test with the nvidia that's also in there -- I notice no sluggishness. My test image was 600 dpi A4, 8 bit/channel RGBA.
I've now also tested on Mobile Studio Pro, and I still don't see any difference. I'm sorry, but we cannot do anything with this report :-(
