SUMMARY When applying the clip job of speed change, and selecting 25%, the resultant clip displays as only white. When applying the effect of speed change at 25% or 10%, the clips plays at the proper speed in the preview window, but when rendering it also produces a white clip with no sound. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use 100fps video from GoPro Hero 7. 2. Try to slow it down 3. Render OBSERVED RESULT Video renders to white screen EXPECTED RESULT Slowed down video. Do you have MOVIT effect applied? If yes please try without MOVIT effect. When you drop the first clip into project bin do you switch the project settings according the clip properties? Maybe it's becaue the 100fps which is not a standard profile.
Movit is not enabled. The profile is standard, 1080p @30fps. The footage is from a GoPro at 100fps, and I want slowmotion from it, which is why I captured it at 100fps in the first place. However, slomotion does not work for me, does it work for you guys? Kind regards, Evert

OK, now we are getting more close to the bug here. The video file I used was an extracted zone of a longer file. GoPro's are known for taking hours of video, and who wants to watch through hours of slowmotion for that few frames you want? Anyways, I got the piece of video I wanted, and extracted it, then applied the effects as outlined on my video. On non-extracted footage, the effects work as expected. What is totally weird, though, is that the extracted footage plays fine in kdenlive, mpv and shotcut. I have a gut feeling that some important metadata is missing from the extracted footage, but I do not know how to prove it. Kind regards, Evert
I saw some issues with GoPro MP4 files as GoPro has a hardware codec chip to make the MP4 files (which seems not proper working). What is coming to my mind is that the start and end frame in the cut MP4 is missing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_compression_picture_types). Maybe you can use Handbrake or FFMPEG to solve this issue https://gopro.com/help/articles/how_to/how-to-convert-gopro-hevc-videos-to-h-264-using-handbrake.
Hi there! At the moment the workaround here is to just use the full sized file. I don't know what kdenlive uses in the background to do the segment extraction, but it is not creating proper files for editing, and that is what needs to be fixed. Surely the proper solution for a problem in a video editor is not to use other video tools? There are quite a few GoPro's in the world, and they are not going away. The GoPros routinely gets used to take action footage, and some of that footage looks simply awesome in slowmotion. Unfortunately, the way that footage is recorded on GoPros results in really long, massive files. The extract zone is a vital feature in dealing with huge files, but if the footage that comes out of it cannot be slowed down the feature loses a lot of it's appeal. What it boils down to is that if Kdenlive is wanting to be taken seriously as a video editor it needs to handle real world footage without issues. I can provide some footage for you guys for testing, if you want. Unfortunately, 2.7k @ 100fps footage is huge, even a second's worth is more than the 4mb file upload limit here. Kind regards, Evert
I like to open an issue in our tracker. Could you just make another test? Create a new project with 25fps or 50fps and import the section out of the 100fps clip. This to see if this is a pull/down issue (100fps devided by 30fps = 3.1/3). Still the same behavior?

Yup, it was a bug in MLT, and is fixed by building mlt from latest git. 2019-09-12 Confirmed that the issue is completely gone from kdenlive when using mlt from git today.
