SUMMARY As you reduce the smudge length, it also prevents colour rate from having any effect. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set Colour Rate to 100 2. Set Smudge Length to lowest OBSERVED RESULT The brush colour is extremely weak EXPECTED RESULT The colour should still lay as per the Colour Rate setting / graph The Smudge should fade as per the Smudge Length graph SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Probably the same on all ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I See this has been discussed before and was classed as not a bug (id=329557) Perhaps the design could be altered to have the expected result? It would allow for more control and flexibility in the smudge engine.
I'm not sure whether that's a real duplicate. But this is kind of how the brush engine was designed, so this is more a wish than a bug.
This will be fixed with MR 422 (https://invent.kde.org/graphics/krita/-/merge_requests/422), by checking the Use New Engine checkbox. I had to create a new method for smudging to allow the use of Color Image, Lightness Map, and Gradient Map brush types, and the new method doesn't have this issue, so I made it possible to use it with Alpha Mask brushes as well.
(In reply to voronwe13 from comment #2) AMAZING! Thankyou, can't wait to try it!
It seems to be a duplicate of bug 353665. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 353665 ***
