Description dpanter 2019-08-22 14:08:24 UTC
SUMMARY
KTorrent (5.1.1-1+b1 amd64) is rejected connection to a private tracker which only allows official versions. Tracker claims the agent string is "KTorrent/5.1dev"

KTorrent 5.1.1 is whitelisted on this tracker.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install KTorrent version 5.1.1-1+b1 amd64 from Debian stable
2. Connect to any tracker that does not allow unofficial or development versions
3. Connection rejected with message similar to "Error: KTorrent/5.1dev is not allowed"

OBSERVED RESULT
agent string "KTorrent/5.1dev"

EXPECTED RESULT
agent string "KTorrent/5.1.1"

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: siduction (technically Debian sid)
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.14.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.54.0
Qt Version: 5.11.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Issue existed before Buster was released and KTorrent 5.1.x was only available in testing or sid. Perhaps agent string was forgotten when the package moved to stable.
Comment 1 dpanter 2019-09-23 16:24:17 UTC
Version 5.1.2-1 amd64 in testing has the same issue.
Comment 2 Lee 2020-05-12 12:03:59 UTC
Any updates here ?

Its the same issue on Manjaro as well. Latest version

~]$ sudo pacman -Q ktorrent
ktorrent 5.1.2-2
~]$ kded5 --version
kded5 5.69.0
~]$ ktorrent --version
ktorrent 5.1.2
Comment 3 dpanter 2020-05-12 19:23:57 UTC
No action at all, I'm afraid. Thanks for reporting in from Manjaro land!

Tested and confirmed that the issue also affects the latest version from Debian sid/testing; 5.1.2-1+b1 amd64.

System upgraded since initial bug report:
KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.62.0
Qt Version: 5.12.5
Comment 4 dpanter 2020-11-08 14:44:03 UTC
There's been no further updates to 5.1 in Debian stable so the issue remains unsolved.

Issue still exists with 5.2 in Debian testing/sid repos.
Tried both 5.2.0-1 amd64 (testing) and 5.2.0-2 amd64 (sid).
Tracker claims the agent string is "KTorrent/5.2dev" and rejects connection.

System upgraded since initial bug report:
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

Can anyone still reproduce this? I believe this bug is the same as 370448 which was fixed by https://invent.kde.org/network/ktorrent/-/commit/cb743ae6b67541649bc3f6b6e3adece23627e017
