Various graphical environments have abandoned the old Xembed format and switched to the new SNI format. Unfortunately, not every environment has provided a Xembed compatibility layer. Maybe we could rewrite XembedSNIProxy to work with any environment? STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Run Enlightenment, enable Systray and add it to dock (most users use external tray support like standalonetray, but it doesn't integrate with original systray) 2. Run Qnapi (or other KDE app) - works 3. Run Wicd or Pidgin - doesn't work OBSERVED RESULT Doesn't work with other DE / WM EXPECTED RESULT Work with other DE / WM SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.14.5 Enlightenment 22
>Maybe we could rewrite XembedSNIProxy to work with any environment What exactly does this mean? There's nothing specifically KDE related in there.
I assumed that if the SNI icons work properly then I have to have a problem with XEmbedSNIProxy somewhere. Is there any option to check where the error is? https://pastebin.com/zq03Q3K0 If this is not a problem with XembedSNIProxy, I think you should close the issue.
That implies there's no StatusNotifierWatcher if there's no SNI implementation then there's nothing for us to proxy into.
