Description Philippe Cloutier 2019-08-11 23:37:10 UTC
I am filing this ticket despite https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=410284 with the assumption that its comment #1 is correct.

I put this ticket in the "general" component, but I suppose nothing prevents addressing this with a code customization... please feel free to change the component as you wish.

As discussed in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409930 it would be very handy if, when a description or comment referred to a ticket using phrasing like "ticket #123456", that this text be automatically made a link to the ticket mentioned (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=123456).

This already works for bugs, as can be seen in ticket #409930 comment #2, but only when using the misleading form "bug #123456", and not for tickets, as ticket #409913's comment #1 shows.

As ticket #409930 comment #1 implies, KDE has 2 ticketing systems, bugs.kde.org and https://phabricator.kde.org/maniphest/
The latter has for some time used the term "ticket" to refer to any of its entries, as can be seen on https://community.kde.org/Sysadmin
Therefore, referring to a KDE ticket by its number could be ambiguous.

Thankfully, that system now refers to its entries as "tasks", with identifiers of the form "Td+" (for example, "T341"). I therefore recommend that references like "ticket 123456" are not automatically linked, only those with a hash, distinguishing between "ticket #123456" and "ticket T123456".

We have one bug tracker. bugs.kde.org. Phabricator is for internal project planning and tasks. There is no "ticket system". Also, Phabricator is being phased out in favor of GitLab, so I doubt this will be implemented.

Hi Kai,

If you read the Description, you will see this request is about bugs.kde.org. The request is to generate links to itself, not to Phabricator.

This would need to be implemented upstream in Bugzilla itself; please report there if it's something you're still interested in. Thanks!
