KDE's UI changed, a while ago now, to no longer display the search bar in the TABBAR, out of konsole content context, to IN-WINDOW. This OBFUSCATES active text in the window, e.g. https://i.imgur.com/006gCew.png , requiring you repeatedly WORKAROUND by either DISABLE/HIDE the search window, of scroll-past it to a 'clear' prompt.
Yes, that's the expected behavior ATM - there's a wish to have it movable and/or transparent.
noted. given a choice, "I" would prefer the old, in-tabbar location. I do understand that there are code/design decisions that make that a *bad* choice, at least going forward. that said, 'me too' on the movable/transparent/etc wish. thx!
There seems to be a bug visible in your screenshot. The pop-down search bar is supposed to appear in the top-right corner, not in the center. Is this always reproducible for you? Does it ever appear in the top-right corner with different window sizes?
> Is this always reproducible for you? no, not always > Does it ever appear in the top-right corner with different window sizes? sometimes, yes. i know -- not particularly helpful. atm, I do not know the repro conditions. yet. :-/ tho, even with the 'menu' in the top-right corner, depending on the width of the window, it still obfuscates ...
Thanks. Let's use this bug to track that particular issue, since we're already aware that some people aren't a fan of the new style (when it's working properly lol).

+1 for the OP. This seems like a regression in user experience. Specifically: - search text entry field is tiny - search bar obscures text behind it - more clicks to enable/disable search options (effectively a hamburger menu now) Please allow an option to retain the old, window-wide search bar behaviour. Thank you for making the awesome Konsole!
