Description leftcrane 2019-07-29 16:53:01 UTC
SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. connect to VPN
2. suspend
3. Wait (not sure how long, but long enough)
4. Resume
5. Connection to VPN is lost.

(I've noticed that if you resume immediately, the VPN connection resumes - not sure if this is a pattern or a fluke)

This bug also causes insurmountable problems with KDE Connect, which craps out if the network interface changes while it's not running.Bug #410316

You would need to configure your VPN connection to be automatically connected, which can be only be tied to a specific connection so you need to go to the connection which you e.g. use at work and set that once the connection is activated, then NetworkManager should connect automatically to the desired VPN.

Shouldn't it automatically reconnect on wake, by default? When you resume from sleep, you expect everything that was running to continue running. Wifi reconnects automatically, so VPN should be the same.

It may also contribute to a nasty bug that makes KDE Connect unusable.

I urge you to change the default. This behavior just doesn't make sense.
