SUMMARY

When I try to add my GMail IMAP account to KMail (since KMail / Akonadi does not appear support GMail via their own API), I enter my username and imap.gmail.com as incoming server (and smtp.gmail.com as outgoing server) and continue.  I enter my password and the 2nd factor.  Google responds with (in German, for whatever reason):

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add GMail IMAP account
2. Authenticate
