Description dragonnetstorm 2019-07-19 03:22:24 UTC
SUMMARY
At any given moment the left mouse button doesn't drag a layer to a new spot, but attempts to drag the entire field of Layers within the docker/tab. Highly impractical compared to previous iterations of Krita, where it was simply left click > able to drag and drop.
Especially unhandy as I often drag layers with pen tool, which uses only left click.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open any document in Krita 4.2.3
2. Hold down left click over an existing layer in layer tab/docker
3. Attempt to drag layer up or down the row of layers in the docker
4. Not happening, layer area (in Docker below the 'opacity' bar) gets dragged until left mouse is let go, and reverts to normal position (so NOT the entire Docker)

OBSERVED RESULT
Where Krita used to function properly on this left click > drag layer. It now attempts to drag the entire field of layers. (Everything below "opacity")
This effect can also be found when scrolling through settings > Keyboard Shortcuts > left click and hold on one of the options in the 'Shortcuts" tab and then drag it up or down.
In both cases a 'hold' hand appears in stead of the cursor, and the area gets dragged to the appointed side, only to revert to it's original position upon release of the left mouse button.

EXPECTED RESULT
just a left click, as in all previous Krita editions. (Last one used was 4.1.7) In the Layers left click+hold+drag I expect Krita to pick up the layer and drag it where I let it go.

I'm sorry, but I don't see this happening? What tablet are you using, and have you changed anything in the configuration for your tablet?

I use the DECO 3 and Artist 15.6PRO. These two units have not given me issues before. No config was altered on either the devices their drivers or within Krita. But this behaviour exists on any pointer device used to drag and drop layers in a new order. (mouses, both wireless and wired as well)
The behaviour is also limited to that docker and the aforementioned settings.
I've gone into other programs that use layers (Illustrator and Photoshop) they behave as intended. Left click and hold drags a layer, letting go drops it to desired location.
I've noticed that the action does work with the RIGHT click. But swapping left for right click (In Windows) changes left and right system wide.

Did a bit of testing: I installed 4.2.3, 4.2.2, 4.2.1, 4.2.0 and 4.1.7
Only 4.1.7 worked as intended: left click+hold to drag. Release to drop layer to new spot in layers docker. Everything 4.2.0 and beyond has the weird dragging animation within the layers Docker, but does not actually result in dragging a layer.
So I can safely conclude that if the setting wasn't in 4.1.7 I did not change it on accident either. I also did not find Krita misbehaving otherwise. Could this be an intentional change that's simply not discussed publicly? (I haven't found other people with this issue yet)

No, that sounds like it's the d&d regression in Qt 5.12 :-(
