Created attachment 121545 [details] Screenshot of the the issue. The rewritten notification system shows a progress bar on the right side for each note. If you hover the mouse on the notification the progress bar will reset. In my opinion these progress bars are only distracting and don't give you any extra value. If you miss a notification you can still look it up in the applet's list. That's why I suggest to remove it.
David, it's clear to me that it is not a bug but was introduced intentionally. But how does it improve the UI/UX? I'd like to turn it off, because now I see the notifications, which make my eyes already turn to the right and when I read the notification text, the moving progress bar just irritates and distracts. Have you considered that? How does this progress bar actually help me at my work? As a user I know that these notifications will vanish within a few seconds anyway. There's no need to indicate it. ;-) Kind Regards

I will stop arguing and leave it to the rest of the KDE VDG team to consider it again, if this indicator is really worth it, considering the possible distraction. _ If you'd provide an option to hide it, I'd be happy as well. _ That's all from my side now. :)
One thing we can probably do at the minimum is disable it when using the proposed "no animations mode" that Kai keeps talking about wanting to write. :)
In fact, if you disable plasma animations the bar already disappears: ~/.config/plasmarc [Units] longDuration=0
