I should also add that this happens specifically when the UI is scaled using the KDE scaling features.

bug is present in V 19.08., Archlinux packages.
Just to verify: Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 19.08.0a to see if there are any packaging issues https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/
Can you please update to the latest version (20.12.2 at the moment, https://kdenlive.org/en/download/) and report here whether this is still happening?
