Description Christian Gruber 2019-07-10 21:34:14 UTC
When you want to create a HDR image, you have to mark the specific pictures and then select the menu item Extras->Create Stacked images. There are various other reasons why you would want to stack images (e.g. a focus stack). When you want to create a HDR, it is hard to find.
And why is a "pseudo HDR image" mentioned in the description? This should IMHO be a normal HDR,

For me, the name is completely correct. Not only HDR images can be merged, it is also possible to mix images. I also plan to improve support for a focus stack and add the included option of aligne-stack and enfuse.

IMHO, a HDRI is a picture that is calculated from many different pictures, and a pseudo HDRI is calculated from a single picture with a high color depth, like a RAW. Do you have another definition?
And this menu entry should be translated.

A pseudo HDR is created from a single image where several images with different exposures are created by image processing. These are then processed like a bracketing series by a camera.

Yes, certainly it should be translated. Unfortunately the translation was lost due to the conversion to plugins and has to be inserted again. Only this is not our job. DigiKam is translated in many languages. I know that the German team has a lot of work and digiKam is a pretty big project with quite specific technical terms. They are always looking for people who can help.

The program has no means to determine whether the pictures to combine are made out of a single picture or are different pictures taken with different exposures. So it cannot say whether it creates a pseudo or a real HDRI. The only thing that the program knows for sure is THAT it creates a HDRI. So I think it is wrong to state that it is a pseudo HDRI.

I can help in the translation to German, but I am no professional translator. Besides that, I cannot provide much work units.

By the way, the wording of the menu entry "Create Stacked Images" is not good.
When you understand by it the images that are combined to a single image, "Create" is wrong, because they already exist.
When you understand by it the single image that is created, then "Images" is wrong, because it is only one.

After much googling, I let the term "pseudo" pass. It is a valid term for this type of HDR images.
