Description Buford 2019-07-08 09:49:59 UTC
SUMMARY
I am experiencing a timeline freeze whenever I move a still image to the timeline. I attempt to adjust the amount of time the image plays on the timeline and it locks up and freezes the timeline resulting in a "force quit" error. Running Kdenlive in Linux Mint 19.1 with Cinnamon 4.0.10, Linux Kernel 4.15.0-54.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kdenlive
2. Place Still Image in Bin
3. Move Still Image to Timeline
4. Attempt to adjust the play time of a still image

OBSERVED RESULT
The timeline freezes causing a force quit error.

EXPECTED RESULT
The ability to use the timeline to adjust the playback time of still images

Please try with the current Kdenlive AppImage version 19.04.3b to see if there are any packaging issues https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/

If the problem/issue doesn't occur when using the AppImage, then it's your configuration or packaging.

Summary: I have updated to latest AppImage, also have updated to Mint 19.2 & Linux Kernel 5. The issue continues to persist. Whenever I add a still image to the bin and/or timeline Kdenlive freezes and requires a force/quit. Version 18 works with no issues.

JPEG that causes crash

Here is the requested file. I also am thinking that this may be a dependency issue as I have tried this with another machine with an almost identical setup and it works fine.

I followed your steps with your uploaded image with AppImage 19.04.3b.

Drag/drop the image to the timeline (don't change the project settings). Right click on the image -> change speed -> change to 150% -> OK -> bottom left the error "change speed failed" pop up.

No crash or freeze.

Maybe you have a miss match between versions on your machine. Delete following files and try again: https://community.kde.org/Kdenlive/Configuration.

BTW: change the duration of an image: make the image shorter or longer on the timeline by grabing the end of the image.

Good morning,

I followed your instructions and indeed the issue was a misconfiguration. Once I deleted the config files and tested things, it is now working perfectly.

Thank you!
