(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kdf Version: v0.5 (using KDE 3.0.0 ) Severity: normal Installed from: Red Hat Linux 7.2.92 Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.2 2.96-109) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.17-xfs OS/Compiler notes: In kdf the partition size and free space columns are sorted incorrectly. They appear to be sorted based on the alphanumeric value of free space. For example sorting by free space might result in tehis order: 1 GB 2 kb 3 TB 4 MB 5 bytes The m/k/T/G is not taken into account when sorting. (Submitted via bugs.kde.org) (Called from KBugReport dialog)
Appears to be fixed alread.
I can confirm this bug as unsolved with version 0.5 (Kde 3.2.2/debian/unstable)
broken v0.5 in 3.2.1 on fedora core 1. I suspect the fault lies with the default behaviour of the list box, and not of KDFs, but surely KDF can over-ride the sort mechanism for any given column.

Well, I don't think, KDE's list box was deviced especially to sort file sizes. Usually you have numerical vs. alphanumeric orders - none of which apply here. Hence, KDF _must_ override the sorting. Therefor, I plea for re-opening the bug - unless its fix is reported here. Regards Raga P.S.scott is able to re-open the bug as you are the original reporter!
Created attachment 9553 [details] screen capture of KDiskFree window The last bug report on the issue of incorrect size sort in v.05 of KDiskFree is dated 2002. Although marked Resolved this bug is very much alive! The attached image (still) illustrates size sort is wrong
.5 currently shipping with kde-redhat and kubuntu behaves as expected. Looks like this may be system specific, rather than a general bug.
