Description Jan van Bekkum 2019-06-30 06:33:12 UTC
SUMMARY
Digikam freezes when exiting image editor from edit on image from tag filtered view.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select image using a tag filter
2. Edit the image using the image editor (I did crop/resize/color B&W/contrast/decorate text on different images)
3. Save edited image as new version

OBSERVED RESULT
Image editor and Digikam freeze

EXPECTED RESULT
Image editor exits, main Digikam usable

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: 10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If I select the image from an album instead of a tag filtered view behavior is as expected.

In a quick test, I can not reproduce the problem with the pre-release of digiKam-6.2.0. Can you download and start DebugView from Microsoft, then post the output from the start of digikam up to freeze?

I tested with 6.2.0 beta. The image editor does close, but it takes about 70 seconds.

An what's the debug trace when you run digiKam 5.2.0 from a console in this situation ?

You have very many broken JPG files for which digiKam can not create a thumbnail. After saving, the thumbnails will be tried again, so the GUI is probably blocking something that should not happen also on Windows. Will I still test.
