Please check whether you don't have a small selection active on your image. If that's not the reason, please * attach your image, * a screenshot of the Krita entire Krita window including statusbar and layer docker or a screen recording of the problem, * the contents of the help->system information for bug reports dialog.
Oh, and update to Krita 4.2.1, please.
I forgot to mention that it is only on one specific file that I just created. I can still use the calligraphy pen but no other brushes. When I create a new file, it's all good again, but I cannot draw on this one project.
(In reply to Boudewijn Rempt from comment #2) > Oh, and update to Krita 4.2.1, please. I just installed it and now it won't even open. It starts loading and then it just stops and when I reclick on the icon, it does the same thing.
If it's with one specific file, then it's pretty much 100% certain that you've got a selection active. Use select-all or deselect to change that. Note that you do not need to install Krita: you can use the portable zip version, which you can just unpack somewhere, like on your desktop. Since 4.2.1 doesn't run, please download 4.1.7 again (https://download.kde.org/stable/krita/4.1.7/) and add the contents of the help->system information for bug reports to this bug report. And please also start the dxdiag app (press the windows key, type dxdiag and press enter), and add the contents of the display tab to this bug report.
Thanks for your comment! Automatically switching the status of this bug to REPORTED so that the KDE team knows that the bug is ready to get confirmed. In the future you may also do this yourself when providing needed information.
Okay so it's working again. It was only in this file which I just copied into a new one. It could be the small selection I just oversaw. I installed 4.1.7 again because I don't get how it works with the zip file. Thank you for the fast reply on that problem!
The zip file is really easy to use: download it, open it in explorer, drag the krita folder to your desktop, enter the folder and double-click on the krita icon.
In any case, closing this report since the original issue reported was not a bug.
