SUMMARY Display resolution degraded to VGA 640 x 480 after recent update. Was only able to restore resolution by deleting files in ~/.local/share/kscreen/. This fixed the problem which was not repeated when I created a new user. There remains an underlying issue because System Settings> Display and Monitor> show Screen Locker Settings and that is all. The same settings on a new user show three choices: Displays, Compositor and Gamma. Displays shows my preferred 1920 x 1080 resolution. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Could not reproduce. The problem started after an update and was only solved by deleting kscreen. It has not reappeared but I cannot restore the correct Display screen 2. 3.
