Description Valso 2019-06-22 23:55:15 UTC
SUMMARY
When I use PCManFM and try to unpack any archive in KDE, Ark and any other archive manager refuse to do it - a red sign (looking a lot like the "no parking" street sign) appears under the cursor.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install PCManFM - not the qt version! The other one which is version 1.3.1 or something.
2. Open it and navigate to any archive of any format.
3. Drag the archive contents out of the archive manager in order to unpack it.

OBSERVED RESULT
A red sign forbidding the action in step 3 appears thus preventing the unpacking.

EXPECTED RESULT
Unpacking should go normally, unhindered by anything.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows: -
macOS: -
Linux: Arch Linux with the latest kernel
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: any / latest available
KDE Frameworks Version: don't know
Qt Version: 5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The bug is shown in this video using a VM for better showing the bug. In the video KDE is in a VM (but that bug happens in a host KDE machine as well), the host machine has Cinnamon.

Pretty sure this is PCManFM not accepting the drag, but starting out at Ark just in case it's actually Ark's problem.

This happens only in KDE and nowhere else, that's why I posted it in "kde" category. I've tried many DEs, even some nobody has ever heard of and only KDE has this problem with PCManFM.

This is a problem with Ark, not with PCManFM. Use PCManFM-Qt and file-roller, everything is working fine:

Comment 5 Nate Graham 2019-06-23 17:34:44 UTC
Ah, so is this a duplicate of Bug 408233?
Comment 6 Justin Zobel 2020-12-01 07:20:44 UTC
Thanks for the report Valso. Can you please confirm if this is a duplicate as mentioned in Comment 5 by Nate?
