When I get a notification the wee box spawns in the centre of my active screen (ie if I'm watching YouTube on that screen) it then moves down to the system tray area and I can see the notification and act on it as normal. However, for a couple of seconds there is a blank/corrupted box on the current screen which looks weird for a few seconds(especially in the middle of video playback). If I get a lot of notifications this becomes very annoying and can not watch a video in peace (I get a lot via KDE Connect). STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Get a notification 2. See corruption in the centre of the screen I am currently working on OBSERVED RESULT Corruption at the centre of active screen EXPECTED RESULT Notification SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.59.0 Qt Version: 5.12.3
Are you on Wayland? Are tese KDE Connect notifications?
No, X11. NVidia graphics. They seem to be for all notifications, but the majority on my system are from KDE Connect

I don't think this is linked to KDE Connect, as I have tested it using notify-send "Hello there testing" from terminal and it does the same thing. I am however using latte-dock and will run tests with it disabled.
I have taken both kdeconnect and latte-dock off the system and it is still doing it. One curious thing is that I have been trying to capture it using simplescreenrecorder and using notify-send to generate the messages. While I can see the issue on the monitor, simplescreenrecorder doesn't seem to capture it, even frame by frame.

Both kdeconnect and latte-dock removed from system and rebooted, problem still exists.
It seems you don't have compositing enabled?
Oh thanks, it appears it crashed and kwin disabled it and didn't tell me!
Still doing it, I reinstalled KDE Connect (git master build) but not latte-dock and got a few emails coming in (via kmail) which are doing the same thing.
