SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have a task manager widget somewhere. 2. Open a window with a long title that doesn't fit into the allocated space in the task manager panel. OBSERVED RESULT The title is cut off at a certain character, without ellipsis (...) in the end. This looks really weird because almost always it's broken in the middle of the word. EXPECTED RESULT There is an ellipsis (three dots) added at the end of the title in case it's cut off. It used to work that way in previous Plasma versions. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon 5.16 KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.59.0 Qt Version: 5.12.3 Kernel Version: 4.15.0-52-generic OS Type: 64-bit
Can you take a screenshot? Works fine mere.

Screenshot added. The full window name is visible in the title bar. In the task bar it's cut off without the ellipsis.

Just tried it again and it's still an issue in 5.18 for me. But your screenshot gave me a hint. I changed the font to Ubuntu, and the issue disappeared. Changed it to "Droid Sans Fallback" 16pt and the issue is back. Tried a few other fonts and this only happens with "Droid Sans Fallback".
That strongly suggests that the Droid Sans Fallback has some weird messed up metrics. Can you truly only reproduce it with that font and no others?
Yes, I couldn't reproduce this with any other font.
Seems like the metrics of that font are messed up then. I would recommend reporting this to the developers of the font. Thanks!
