In KDE 2.2 I used to work with kate over files accessed via samba share over really slow link. In previus version that slow link only affected open/save timing (what is quite resonable). Now with Kate from KDE 3.0 kate generates a lot of trafic during editing or even having open such files that editing remote/ or even local file is lagged (so slow that editing is imposible).
Trafic was logged with tcpdump.
