Description Dns 2019-06-11 06:05:45 UTC
comparing breeze to papirus on dolphin (https://phabricator.kde.org/T10891 vs https://phabricator.kde.org/T10891):
– back/foward buttons: on the reddit screenshot it is clear which icon is dropdown menu, which icon is not. by default we cant know. breeze is inconsistent here.
– breeze back/fwd arrow together look like a tag with missing content because less-than and greater-than are used for icons, on the reddit screenshot it is really clear that it is an arrow
– “new” icon in breeze.. i’m not sure if this in the bottom right corner is a graphics glitch or what when you have small display/icon. if it didnt say i would have to look what is that “glitch” so i understand it. those "gaps" where one symbol replaces the lines of another one should be changed, addressed with color maybe?
– view mode in breeze looks more like checkers and not like icons/details whatever. if i take a look at that icon without context (being on dolphin toolbar), i would have no clue what it does. it also looks like a stove
– terminal icon uses totally different style

but to go a bit further here here is another screenshot https://imgur.com/gallery/2ZV1mwq
– last month icon is not self explanatory. why would green mean last month and black today or yesterday? and the calendar itself is just a bunch of lines. usually it is designed with just one number inside like here https://www.123rf.com/photo_54049049_stock-vector-april-30-vector-flat-daily-calendar-icon-date-and-time-day-month-holiday-.html where you can use -1m
– documents icon actually means left-aligned in all text processors
– images icon looks like scale bottom left corner when it is really small (and those icons in sidebar *are* designed to be really small)
– today and yesterday cannot be distinguished here
– icon of the hard-drive -> if it didnt say it was a harddrive, i would not know (you can assume if it has GB next to it, yes, but icon is the focus here)
– again, those 3 icons for “icons, details and tree” are not self explanatory. the best one is the tree one
– diamond on the window decorations? if we didnt learn on windows what does the middle button do, based on the icon you cannot understand it.

also, i think i read somewhere (which i cant find anymore) that ‘hollow’ icons (the ones that are not filled) are not good design principle. now i feel sorry i didnt save that explanation.

anyhow, i think all those icons are *over* simplified and this is only looking at dolphin.

please consider developing a new set of breeze icons.

Thank you for the bug. Unfortunately there are several issues with it:
1. You're using an old version of Breeze icons. Several of the icons in the screenshot have since changed (network, hard disk, root, and emblem icons)
2. This mega-bug-report one is not actionable because its scope is far too broad. "please consider developing a new set of breeze icons" is waaaaaaay outside the scope of a bug report.

Please upgrade to a more recent version of KDE frameworks and open new bugs to track individual issues you encounter with Breeze icons--one bug report per issue. See https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting#One_issue_per_bug_report

Thanks!
