Description Raphaël Jakse 2019-06-10 13:52:16 UTC
When I answer a text with the computer from KDE Connect, the phone's led notification keeps blinking. Though it is obvious that I read the very message that makes the phone blink in the first place. And I don't really want to unlock the phone to make it stop blinking.

If it's not just me, I suspect it's not easy to fix (it seems to involve controlling the notification of the SMS app? Maybe it requires some kind of integration with this app?), but I did not find any bug report on this so here it is.

The notification gets dismissed but the LED stays? In that case I
don't think we can do much. If the notification doesn't get dismissed,
then I guess we just could dismiss it after replying.

No, the notification (produced by QKSMS, but I think I already had the issue with the regular SMS app - I cannot reproduce, because since I updated by phone to Android Pie, the Led does not blink anymore with the regular SMS app) is still there.

Is it possible for KDE Connect to dismiss a notification from QKSMS?
Comment 3 Albert Vaca Cintora 2019-06-10 14:50:28 UTC
KDE Connect can dismiss notifications, so it should be possible.

Although... I would say they should dismiss it themselves after replying actually :/ maybe we can consider this a bug on their side?

Sure.

Relevant bug: https://github.com/moezbhatti/qksms/issues/1445
Comment 5 Raphaël Jakse 2019-06-10 15:08:32 UTC
Would it be desirable to implement a "notification dismiss workaround" in KDE Connect that one could enable?

Or, the notification could be dismissed as soon as the message is displayed on the computer, which QKSMS can't know.

Well, I just sent a reply to a text from KDE connect and the led stopped blinking. Weird.

However my last suggestion could still be worth it, so I let the bug open so you can decide what is best.

As a workaround, I just found that manually dismissing the notification from KDE Connect is possible and works well. Which is not perfect but convenient enough.

I can't reproduce this bug anymore.
