SUMMARY It’s hard to rearrange titlebar buttons, because dropping them in the desired position usually simply has no effect. There is an indication where they can be dropped (?), when dragging them above other buttons the cursor changes. But this does not mean that the button will be inserted there. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open Application Style -> Window Decorations -> Buttons 2. Drag e. g. the menu buttom from the lower area 3. Drop the button somewhere in the title bar OBSERVED RESULT 1. Buttons drop themselves in maybe 15% of all cases, in the other 85% nothing happens. 2. Cursor changes when dragging a button on another button. EXPECTED RESULT 1. Buttons drop themselves like known from the Plasma panel in configuration mode, indicading where they can be dropped by stoving other buttons (icons) away. 2. Cursor changes when dragging a button between / next to other buttons in the titlebar. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KDE Neon 5.15 KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.58.0 Qt Version: 5.12.0
For what it's worth, this KCM was rewritten in Plasma 5.16.
Yep, we focused on this in 5.16 and it's substantially better, so much so that I think we can call it fixed. Please re-open if you find that it's not good enough in 5.16 after it's released and you get a chance to use it. Thanks!
