(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kwrite Version: KDE 3.0.0 Severity: normal Installed from: SuSE RPMs Compiler: Not Specified OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified The kate/kwrite file dialog allows you to select an encoding different from the locale when opening a file. However when saving a file this encoding is replaced by the default encoding of the locale resulting in loss of information. The save-as dialog has an encoding button -- but this is also always reset to the locale encoding. Kate/Kwrite should remember which encoding the file was opened with/saved as -- and use that when saving the file. (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
The problem is fixed in CVS and it will work in KDE 3.1 Kind regards Joseph Wenninger
