video showing the bug

I have attached a video showing this bug.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In SystemSettings -> Printers, click on "Configure", then select "Printer Options" from the window that pops up.
2. Change one of the printer options.
3. Click "Apply", then "OK".

OBSERVED RESULT
If you go back into Configure -> Printer options, you'll see that your change was not saved.

EXPECTED RESULT
The change should be saved.

Thanks for the video, that's very helpful. Cannot reproduce with 19.04 and my printer (HP LaserJet Professional P1606dn) and the HP proprietary binary blob drivers. Might be an issue with the drivers for your hardware, or a local permissions issue.
Comment 2 S. Christian Collins 2019-06-01 16:14:57 UTC
I can repro the issue using the CUPS PDF driver (sudo apt install printer-driver-cups-pdf), so that should be easier to test. The bug also occurs in my Virtualbox installations of Kubuntu and KDE neon Developer Edition Git-Unstable, so that should rule out anything unique to my desktop KDE neon User Edition install.
Comment 3 Marcelo Sales 2020-02-21 18:56:25 UTC
I've got the same problem here. It does not seem to be a driver or permissions issue, because I can set printer options using the CUPS administration site (http://localhost:631). Once I modify the options I want directly in CUPS, they are updated in KDE System Settings. But I can't modify them using System Settings (well, I can, but they are not saved).
My printer is a Brother DCP-L2540DW.

Have exactly the same problem, still. Epson Stylus SX445W.
Comment 5 Sebastian 2021-01-21 20:18:13 UTC
Can also confirm this bug. As stated in the bug report it only happens when using the "Apply" button and then "OK". Using "OK" alone or "Apply" and then "Cancel" does correctly apply the settings.

Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.78.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2

I can also confirm this bug. When i tried to change settings for my Epson L130 it and apply it does not save it. Not an issue with the driver since it worked perfectly with Linux mint 20.1

As stated by Sebastian it worked when clicking on 'OK' button directly or 'apply and cancel'. It saves the settings.

Confirmation of this bug (it's reported over and over and over).

I get it when I use driverless printing. Hope that helps when replicating it.
Happens on a Canon G500 driverless and Brother laserprinter driverless.

Confirming this bug for Epson L3050 and HP Officejet 5610.

We believe these issues to be solved in later Plasma5 and Plasma6 just released. Please try again if you can and report back. Thx
Comment 10 S. Christian Collins 2024-04-04 14:43:52 UTC
Yes, this bug is now fixed. The "Apply" button never becomes active when changing printer settings, so the user can only hit "OK", which works.
