Yes, this is something I noticed too, but wasn't sure whether something could be done about it at all, given the new size is caused by an attempt at making the filter easier to use. Gonna assign this to Scott, maybe he knows.
I thought about this. This UI change was brought up by Bollebib as it was inconvenient with the interface in 4.1.7. One idea I had was to hide all the colored checkboxes if there is no color filtering being applied
Bug(?) also present in Win10 x64 version
