Created attachment 120009 [details] screenshot STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. download a file with Firefox integrated to notifications system (do NOT hide the notification that shows the download progress) 2. while Firefox downloads the file, open kate and position its window with the text area behind the notification 3. OBSERVED RESULT when the download is completed, plasma shows another notification including "Open" and hamburger buttons. Such notification has an abnormal space below the buttons with a lighter color if breeze dark theme is used. See the attached screenshot please. I guess this is a bug in Kwin's morphing popups effect as the popup resizes when it finishes.
Are you able to reproduce this bug with the morphing popups effect being disabled?
Currently I can't test because desktop effects kcm crashes system settings (bug 407446). Is there any way to disable morphing popups effect via konsole?

Thanks Kai. I can't reproduce consistently with Firefox while the effect is disabled, but the bug persists. I can reproduce more easily copying/moving fles with Dolphin.
I doubt that this bug has anything to do with the morphing popups effect. Just to be sure, does the light area disappear if you move a window behind it?

given that shadows are rendered properly, geometry seems to be okay. I suspect that plasma doesn't update blur/contrast region.
Created attachment 120143 [details] notification after files copy on plasma 5.16 beta I'm attaching another screenshot, it shows the bug on plasma 5.16 beta. I clicked the arrow to show the details of the files copy with Dolphin and the popup showing the progress remained visible until the operation was completed. So plasma shown the notification which we can see in the attached screenshot.
Not our bug. It appears like plasma "kind of forgot" to resize the notification popup.

I haven't experienced this bug in a long, long time. I'd say we can probably close it.
This bug happened a few weeks ago on my neon unstable after sending a .jpg file to another device via bluetooth. But I can't reproduce consistently.
Reading again through the comments, I realize I've had the "morphing popups" desktop effect disabled for a while now, which might be why I no longer see the bug (or any of the other bugs that effect creates). So, the bug might still be out there, folks. Be sure to lock your doors at night and count your kids.
