Created attachment 119968 [details] terminal-open and crash log SUMMARY KRITA crashes on ubuntu 19.04 and can not draw. This does not happen at all for nightly or Krita_Stable. Each confirmed version is Crashkrita = 4.1.7.101 Stable = krita-4.1.8-47f3cd3-x86_64 Nightly = krita-4.2.0-alpha-43eba36-x86_64 AMDGPU=RX470, ubuntukernel=5.0.0-13, KDEplasma=5.15.4, KDEFrameworks=5.56.0, QT=5.12.2, OS-type=64bit, Driver = xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu 19.0.1-1 However, neither stable nor nightly can use phyton-brush-shortcut. This is the reason for using KRITA 4.1.7.101. We want to use nightly otherwise. Why do you remove python-scrypt from nightly ;( No, I understand why. It's bothersome to debug X( Since KRITA 4.1.7 crashes, the only option is to use nightly, which makes brush select difficult. I took a log when it crashed. It may not be informative but attached. There are two types of terminal log and crash log generated by KRITA. terminal log=krita-crash.log Configuration file = Local / share / krita, .config / KRITA-config-file * Item3 All erased = but crash purge> reboot> new install = but crash. please some help? STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open krita 2. new>anything 3. crash

Hello Krita crashing on load is strange. Does this happen with any 4.1.7 krita appimage or does this crash happens only with krita from the ubuntu repos? Also we did not remove python-script willingly, there was a change in how python finds the packages needed for krita python functionality. We are working on a fix for python-script for appimage for now.

Hi, thanks reply. I forgot that there was an appimage on the KRITA official site! Tried right .. it works! X) We use ppa:kritalime/ppa for installation. sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:kritalime/ppa https://launchpad.net/~kritalime/+archive/ubuntu/ppa But ppa seems to be the same kritalime. Is it wrong?
I forgot to say. krita 4.1.7 Appimage worked without problems. We can use the python brush selector with this. I'm happy. And Krita 4.1.7 crashing is ubuntu repo only.

There's nothing strange here. I've been saying for months that using distribution packages with Qt 5.12 means instant crashes if you use a tablet. There's a bug in Qt 5.12 that we've worked around in Krita 4.1.8. Apparently, the Ubuntu people haven't noticed that yet. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 401988 ***
(In reply to Boudewijn Rempt from comment #6) Well, I think that is quite dangerous to KDE users. Because our system is a plasma desktop using ubuntu 19.04 and kubuntu-backport, but the crash is happening. I think that crash report will increase if it is not updated early from 4.1.7 to 4.1.8. but Well that's not something we care about. I will use appimage for now. thanks.
Yes, how do you think we felt when we discovered that Qt 5.12 had this bug? We were in full-on panic mode.
(In reply to Boudewijn Rempt from comment #8) I'm sorry, I know I must not laugh it. I think the full on panic mode is a teeeeerrible situation! But we laughed because the word "full on panic mode" was interesting. That's wonderful wording. yes, we must not really laugh at it. sorry. I pray for this problem to settle quickly. KRITA is awesome painter tools. have nice day.
4.2 has the workaround, too, and should be released by the end of this month.
Oh, and also, the latest nightly appimage has python again, ivanyossi fixed it!
(In reply to Boudewijn Rempt from comment #11) > Oh, and also, the latest nightly appimage has python again, ivanyossi fixed > it! congratulations !!! Thank you to the KRITA development team with great skills! I am very happy to be able to use tenbrush at nightly so quickly. It is good to submit to support. We confirmed earlier, but we were able to draw without problems. Thank you very much.
