SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a new document, enter the following text: test hello hello hello 2. Press Ctrl+F to search; enter "hello" (no quotes). The first "hello" is highlighted. 3. Press Esc to exit search mode. 4. Press Ctrl+Home to go to the beginning of the document. 5. Press F3 to find next. 6. Repeat steps 2-5 until the bug occurs. OBSERVED RESULT Sometimes, F3 skips the very next instance of "hello" and goes to the second-next instance. EXPECTED RESULT F3 should always go to the very next instance of the search string, after the cursor. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS amd64 This bug has been around for several years. I figured someone would have reported it and it would have been fixed by now. If it has been fixed, please push the new version to Canonical so it gets pushed out to all of the Ubutu 18.04 users. Thanks!
Which search mode do you use? Just plain text, or regular expressions or similar? Imo, we should make a unit test out of this.
I'm using plain text search mode.
Ron I've just tried to reproduce this issue and ran the search approximately 15 times. Can you please confirm if this is still occurring for you?
