Description gerd.muncke 2019-05-07 07:31:49 UTC
SUMMARY
Possibly related to bug 211991:When having selected a file in Dolphin I would expect that this selection is automatically lifted when another file is selected - unless the CTRL or Shift button is also pressed. However, this doesn't happen having the highly indesirable consequence that both, the prviously selected and the newly selected files are deleted while it was intended just to delete the newly selected file.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select a file by clicking with the arrow cursor on the icon befor the file name
2. Select another file in the same way
3. Check that both files remain selected

OBSERVED RESULT
When the second file was deleted the first file also was deleted

EXPECTED RESULT
When I select a file in Dolphin without pressing the CTRL or Shift key all previous selection(s) should be cancelled

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version:
KDE Frameworks Version:
Qt Version:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Julian Steinmann 2019-05-07 18:27:14 UTC
I cannot reproduce this behavior with Dolphin 19.04. Do you use single click mode? Is the problem related to the selection markers (+ and - signs) that appear when hovering over a file (these can easily be turned off in the settings)?

SYSTEM INFO
Operating System: KDE neon Testing Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.58.0
Qt Version: 5.12.0

Hi Julian,
You're dead right. I wasn't aware of the feature of the selection marker.
So I understand this isn't a bug at all. My apologies and I withdraw my bug
report herewith.
Regards,
Gerd
