Description James Cain 2019-05-06 19:52:49 UTC
As the title suggests, in my KDE Neon installation, clicking on "device" and trying to select "SMART status", the option is grayed-out.

I even installed the package "smartmomtools", since I read that was the new SMART backend for PM (the package was not installed on the Partitionmanager's update to 4.0), but after installation it is still not available.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open KDE Partition Manager
2. Select a device
3. Attempt to see SMART status

OBSERVED RESULT
SMART status is grayed-out

EXPECTED RESULT
SMART status works as expected

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.0.13 kernel
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.57.0
Qt Version: 5.12.0

You need to install smartmontools 7.0. I guess neon is based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, so smartmontools are too old.

Thanks for the heads-up. Hopefully it will be working in Neon 20.04.

Thank you for your bug report!
However this bug report was created/provided previous to 01/01/2023 and also has not received any updates since before 01/01/2025.
Unfortunately KDE neon no longer provides updates for anything older than noble 24.04 based edition's.
Please upgrade to KDE neon noble and if you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to an active version, feel free to re-open this bug report.
Thanks for understanding!
