The quickfilter on top of the mail list allows simple search of messages matching the entered text by checking the subject or full text. When performing a full text search it should also notes attached to a mail. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open the message list window 2. Select a message (e.g. subject "Example ABC") and attach a note with contents "Ticket 123". The text "Ticket 123" is expected not be a part of the message itself (neither subject not text) but only of the attached note. 3. Type "Ticket 123" in the quickfilter area above the message list OBSERVED RESULT The filtered message list is empty, no matching message is displayed. EXPECTED RESULT The filtered message list is not empty, the message with subject "Example ABC" is displayed because the quickfilter matched as the note contains "Ticket 123" SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux Kubuntu 18.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.13.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.50.0 Qt Version: 5.11.1
What is a 'note'? Should KMail search in any attachments that "look like text"?
Created attachment 120228 [details] Screenshoot Kmail and context menu to edit a note

I have added three screenshoots showing the notes (german "Notiz") - maybe the english wording is a bit different but I hope that the screenshoots will help. Best regards Reiner
Oh, I didn't know that feature. Searching there makes sense.
Yes, it would be a great help. Lot of time I am in conversation with customers. Unfortunately they are not always putting / keeping a reference into the subject (or mail body) but the mail contents is related to the same ticket. Thus it would be great to store the ticket into the local mail note and so having a comfortable and efficient way to keep track of the thread.
