Description felixbrakel 2019-05-01 15:30:47 UTC
SUMMARY
The mouse cursor gets offset for one frame or so when it transitions to a different icon, such as hovering over a clickable link or at the edge of a window.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a terminal (Or any preferred window), make sure it is not maximized.
2. Place the cursor at the bottom of the window, causing the icon for adjusting the height of the window to pop up.
3. Move the mouse rapidly between this position and a few pixels down, causing the icon to change rapidly. Note that moving the cursor rapidly, or this specific icon transition is not necessary for reproducing the bug but it is the way it becomes the most visible.

OBSERVED RESULT
The icon sometimes gets displaced to the lower right for about a frame causing a form of flickering.

EXPECTED RESULT
The icon should switch without jumping around.

Are you using AMD video drivers?
Comment 2 felixbrakel 2019-05-23 13:40:18 UTC
It happens on both my laptop and desktop. The desktop has an AMD GPU and uses the amdgpu driver.

The laptop has both an integrated Intel GPU using the i915 driver and a dedicated Nvidia GPU using the proprietary driver. On the laptop I have only been able to confirm the issue with the iGPU. That doesn't mean the issue doesn't happen with the Nvidia driver, I just haven't been able to test it with that.
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2020-01-31 20:39:19 UTC
I cannot reproduce this issue in Plasma 5.17 with Frameworks 5.66. Can you?

X11 or Wayland?

If that's the case, then KWin has nothing to do with this bug.

Does one have to resize some particular application?

Could you please also run `qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation` from command line and attach the output to this bug report?
