It would be great because one may like to test or debug different versions of a backend:

- support different environments (e.g., python version of the system vs. different conda environments)

- e.g., octave's version of the system vs. stable flatpak vs. own compilation of dev

This would require labeling those instances according to users' taste, while keeping the icon to visualize different backend categories.

I am not sure, thats is very usefull for averange user, because offent the user no need several environments of one program languages.
