Description Björn Feber 2019-04-22 14:41:51 UTC
SUMMARY
There should be three menu entries when opening the context menu for symlinks:
1. "Show Target" should select the symlink target in the current window/tab
2. "Show Target in New Window" should show the symlink target in a new window
3. "Show Target in New Tab" should show the symlink target in a new tab

Maybe we should expose these ernatives when the alt, shift, or ctrl key is held down, like how it toggles between "Move to trash" and "Delete" by holding down the shift key. What do you think?

Nah, I think it should always show these entries, similar to folders and search results.

I agree that we should be able to choose how to open the target of where the link points to.
There is a third option that I want to have, and it is to open the target in the currently used tab.

We should not have those options (open here, open in new tab, open in new window and maybe open in split window) directly spread out in the context menu. It should either be in a sub-menu or be a preference in Dolphin settings.
I dislike the idea of alt, shift, or ctrl : I won't know about it and it would only work for one option.

Oops, the things I asked was already the option 1 of first message (even if it was not in the title).
Either way, it's the option I want the more and there are as much opening option than regular folder opening.
