Hey! Can you check if this still happens with 4.2(Krita next appimage on the website)? It seems this is the qt 5.12 crash we made a separate 4.1.8 release for several months ago.
It definitely is the same issue: build with Qt 5.11.1, so the workaround for the bug in Qt isn't present, but running with Qt 5.12.2, since Ubuntu didn't rebuild Krita with the new Qt. Your only realistic option at this point is to use the appimages, since unpatched Qt 5.12 libraries have too many problems to run Krita reliably. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 405107 ***
