Description jens.software 2019-04-20 19:23:32 UTC
SUMMARY
Application search results get removed for seemingly no reason.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enter "calculator" into the search bar
2. Press Enter

OBSERVED RESULT
At first there are many results, including "MATE Calculator" and "GNOME Calculator". There's still the loading animation at the bottom of the window. As soon as the loading animation disappears, all except two search results disappear: "Qualculate" and "Autumn".

EXPECTED RESULT
All search results should stay on the list.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)

Would it be possible for you to show in a screen recording? I don't think I've ever seen this.

I'm running into the same issue. Newer releases of KDE though.

OS: Kubuntu 19.10 64-bit
KDE Plasma Version: 5.16.5
KDE Frameworks 5.62.0
QT Version: 5.12.4
Kernel: 5.3.0-62-generic

It appears to be related to when discover has found packages for update and corrupts (?) some sort of cache while the search is active and some sort of background process (apt) is working. This might be tied to a downstream bug.

Log of launching plasma-discover and triggering the bug.

The packages that disappear specifically are those with a corresponding `couldn't find package for` line.

When viewing the search results, there is no way to find any of the packages in that list. After restarting `plasma-discover` the packages that were missing are now the top results of the search.

That is very odd. :/
