SUMMARY
The behavior described here occurs on neon dev unstable running nightly build installed via flatpak.
Such behavior does not occur on Arch Linux running the same build.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. add some songs to elisa's playlist and start playback
2. lock your screen while elisa plays the song
3. wait the current song to finish

OBSERVED RESULT
playback stops

EXPECTED RESULT
elisa plays the next song of the playlist

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.58.0

FWIW cannot reproduce on 5.15.4 with Elisa from git master; for me playback continues after the screen is locked.

Thanks for your report. 
Are you using a Wayland workspace? I have seen that it might provoque such symptoms.

yes, the problem only occurs on Wayland session.

no longer reproducible, nightly build of elisa works as expected on Neon unstable edition and Arch Linux.
