OBSERVED RESULT cursor freezes and keyboard input stops EXPECTED RESULT Wayland session is still usable
Can you please attach gdb to the frozen KWin?
Created attachment 119425 [details] screenshot showing high cpu usage and status of kwin_wayland In fact kwin_wayland does not freeze. It causes high cpu usage and makes the wayland session unusable.
Nevertheless please try to get a backtrace.
I can't get a backtrace. Nothing happens when I try to run 'thread apply all bt' in gdb prompt. Wayland session also freezes after I search for something in the apps launcher and press enter to open the highlighted search result. A few days ago Wayland session also froze after I double-click a png file in Dolphin. However, I can't reproduce such freezes consistently. Apparently they happpen randomly.
This problem is still happening on neon dev unstable after a while using the Wayland session. Cursor freezes randomly when I open a window. Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.58.0 Qt Version: 5.12.0 Kernel Version: 4.18.0-18-generic
plasma 5.16 beta running on another computer has the same problem. Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.15.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.58.0 Qt Version: 5.13.0 beta3
I can reproduce this problem all the time trying to open kdenlive video editor on Wayland. Kwin also hangs randomly when I try to open other windows (Dolphin and Gwenview, for example).
Could be the same as bug 408754
This problem is no longer hapening on my systems (Arch running Plasma 5.16.3 and Neon unstable edition).
