Description Pedro Neves 2019-04-11 18:58:45 UTC
SUMMARY

I'm unable to mount and open an external encrypted (LUKS) drive from device manager

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Insert external hard drive with encrypted (luks) partition
2. Device notifier pops up and shows an entry for the drive (in my case, 1,8 TiB Encrypted Drive
3. Click on the entry: nothing happens

4. Go to Dolphin:
5. On the Removable devices there’s an entry for the encrypted drive (in my case, 1,8 TiB Encrypted Drive). Click on it
6. KDE Daemon shows a password window. Enter password to decrypt and press OK
7. A message shows up on the Dolphin window: An error occurred while accessing 'Backups', the system responded: The device is already mounted: Device /dev/dm-3 is already mounted at `/run/media/XXXX/Backups'.
8. Click on the respective entry on the Devices (in my case, Backups)
9. The contents of the drive are shown on the Dolphin window

OBSERVED RESULT

Cannot mount and open device from Device Manager

EXPECTED RESULT

The external encrypted partition should open by clicking on the entry in the device manager, just the way it happens when connecting an external (non-encrypted) device.
