Description Martin 2019-04-09 14:33:41 UTC
- It would be great to have a zoom (magnification) activated, during a left mouse-click in the image preview.
- When moving the mouse during the left mouse-click the zoomed area moves too.
- The zoom factor can be made adjustable in the setup.
- This feature could also be helpful for the light table.

This feature would speed up image evaluation very much.
The feature can be tried in the software FSViewer.

Regards
Martin

CTRL + mouse wheel don't do the job ?

The mouse wheel CTRL+ is much slower and you intuitively don't know the current zoom factor. That makes assessing image focus more complicated than necessary.

With the left mouse-click (LM) version you intuitively always know the current zoom factor.
LM Released: full frame for instance
LM Clicked: 100% (as setup for LM zoom)

CTRL+mouse => zoom factor in indicated on right side of status bar.

It's enough fast here, in preview or image editor mode.

From the technical point of view it is fast enough in preview and editor.
The issue is the workflow point of view.

Imagine that you want to review dozens or hundreds of images.
You are scrolling through the images which were all in full frame view.
In one or the other picture you want to check the focus at different locations inside the image.

In the current solution you have to zoom by mouse wheel, check the zoom factor with you eyes, move the image to the location you want to check, zoom back, check zoom factor by eyes again, etc.

In the left-mouse-button solution you see the whole image, click at the location you want to check and you have 100% there. Then move the location or release button and click at another location. By click you switch between full frame and 100% zoom.

I know it from FSViewer and it is really fast (and makes fun to use).
