Hi, I also have same problem with Mageia 7 (Cauldron) I reported bug on "bugs.mageia.org" https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24711 and told me to come here and I confirm the solution of "mailto:edpil02@orange.fr" to be good I recompiled the package "v4l-utils" v1.16.3 and retrograded, the rpm lib64v4l0-1.16.5 (which contains "libdvbv5") to lib64v4l0-1.16.3 and kaffeine work well again I tested with "v4l-utils" v1.16.4 but same bug with v1.16.5
The bug seems to be resolve in libdvbc5 upstream. https://git.linuxtv.org/v4l-utils.git/commit/?h=stable-1.16 See : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1695023 https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2019-58a48ede6c But got same issue after my distro upgrade.

I compiled with the patch from fedora but like you I always have the same bug also I compiled with the clone of the github and same bug
only version 1.16.3 work well pending fix I will continue with this one

I'm not a native-speaker either ;-) I make a lot of mistakes myself. Yet, please use English here, as it is the de-facto common language.
Same problem on Arch Linux with kaffeine 2.0.16 and 2.0.17 with libv4l-1.16.5 kaffiene works with libv4l 1.16.3
