reproduction of the rendered project (with transitions misplaced)

SUMMARY

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. create a projects using Kdenlive for Windows 19.04 (latest unstable build)
2. create some transitions on a secondary video track (composite and transform)
3. do a rendering to default formats.

OBSERVED RESULT
the output video has a displacements on transitions effects... i don't know if this is a project file issue... (but on timeline is working fine without issues)
these displacements appears after a while.. on my project after 40 seconds...(the first 2 transitions are ok)

as na atachment i created what seems to be rendered ... and what is the original project

EXPECTED RESULT

Comment 1 Davy Bartoloni 2019-03-27 09:51:51 UTC
just tried to rendering only a "section" of the project... and the issue appear also. i tried to see zooming on the project if there is a misalignment.. but the composite effects are correctly placed on start/end frames.

Which version of Win10 do you have? Type into the search field “winver” and you get i.e: “1803 build 17134” or “1809 build 17763”.

I tried to reproduce your problem on Win7 and I don’t have this offset after rendering. But on Win10 it crashes as soon as I load a clip.

I'm using an insider version of Windows 10 , the build 16299.15 (1709) on my ISOs archive this Windows 10 version is the fastest without bugs (for my use)
this build is also called CREATORS.
Comment 5 Davy Bartoloni 2019-03-29 21:05:42 UTC
i'm trying to reproduce the issue in a new "minimal" project ... and seems related to length of video.. after 2 minutes and some transitions.. this misplacement appear...

project with resources and rendered error (windows 19.04)

project with resources and rendered error (windows 19.04)
just load the project.. change the path of the 2 images..
just render last 7 seocnds of the clip... and the composite
effect is starting delayed by 2 seconds... looking at the
project ... the frame of composite and the PNG are exactly the same...
on rendering (i put my rendering) there are 2 seconds of delay when composite
effect (size) is not applied.
Comment 7 Davy Bartoloni 2019-03-30 07:53:10 UTC
Just downloaded latest BETA of 19.04 and the issue is still present, i tried with my test project (the attachment of previous comment) .. and the composite is again misplaced.

Win10_test

I assume you tested with the new uploaded version from 29.Mrz 19.

I load your Kdenlive file and render only the last 7 seconds (as set with the timeline zone) on Win7 and Win10. I get a result as expected (even rendered the whole file). See attached file.

You run "Windows 10 Insider Preview Update on Build 16299.15" which was later the "Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (Build 16299.15)".

Do you have a special setup?

All driver updated like graphic card, sound card, printer driver?

Do you run Win10 on an Intel or AMD machine?

What do you mean by ISO’s archive?

Maybe to try: delete the Kdenliverc file and the Appdata folder as described here: https://userbase.kde.org/Kdenlive/Manual/Windows_Issues#Qt_rendering_crash
Comment 9 Davy Bartoloni 2019-03-30 19:08:50 UTC
i've deleted all kdenlive old files ( i wrote the instructions about killing porcesses and deleting configuration files on forum for the first time last year) .. my test machine is a AMD Athlon X2 (with 2 cores unlocked)
updated drivers, and i can't image how a driver con desync a project structure... (i'm also a developer ... and i never seen something like that related to drivers version)
btw... i will install latest build on an Intel machine to see what happens.
Comment 10 emohr 2019-03-30 19:45:49 UTC
The driver update was just coming to my mind as I had couple of issues with it. But you are right the driver has nothing to do with the rendering which is done via MLT and FFMPEG.

BTW I run the test on 2 different Intel machines: i7-870 (Win7) and i3-6157U (Win10, 1809 build 17763).
Comment 11 Davy Bartoloni 2019-03-31 07:37:27 UTC
just spent last night to change every rendering option.. and codecs.. and reinstalling old versions (that works) .. for now.. i've not news about what 19.04 is doing on my system.
Comment 12 Davy Bartoloni 2019-03-31 07:54:57 UTC
just found that the issue is only with some effects/transitions...
for example.. composite / composite and transform / slide .. .are affected...
rotation / shear/ color effects .. are not affected...
Comment 13 emohr 2019-03-31 18:08:03 UTC
Stupid question. Do you have something accelerated by a graphic card? Like VAAPI or NVEC?

nope, i'm using this PC just for developing Android and c++ apps... and Kdenlive tests... btw my VGA is a Nvidia gt610
Comment 15 Davy Bartoloni 2019-04-15 19:09:23 UTC
Today i tried all my version of kdenlive (also the beta releases deleted from FTP)...

and the kdenlive-19.04beta-git180104.exe if working fine... there is not the de-sync issue.

this is a link to this "OLD" release: https://www.videohelp.com/download/kdenlive-19.04beta-git180104.exe
Comment 16 Davy Bartoloni 2019-04-16 05:56:56 UTC
Just made some tests on the old evrsion.. and the issue is present, but has some different behaviors... on my example, the arrows are stretching at starting of the clip.. but seems that the clip is delayed... like the clip and the effect are shifted 2 secnds on teh future.

(olso tried today latest portable beta ... and the issue is still present)

old project (19.04) with displaced transitions ( taht can be see only now)

i opened an old project (made with early 19.04 Win64 installer) and now the transitions looks misplaced ON TIMELINE! .. it was an issue on timeline? but why the preview is working fine?
BTW seems that now the timeline can be used successfully to place transitions.

issue seems resolved. (attached image of a real old project loaded now)
Comment 18 emohr 2019-04-16 07:23:05 UTC
Thank you for in deep testing.

We uploaded yesterday the latest 19.04 Windows portable version: https://kdenlive.org/en/download/ . It’s a self-extracting exe. Ones extracted you can run Kdenlive by double click Kdenlive.exe in the “bin” folder.

Could you test with this version as well?

> Could you test with this version as well?

I used this version (just tried yesterday to render with the same issue)... this morning i opened an old project and i see the misplacement on timeline...

the strange thing is that i have another old project (2 days of differences with the one i fixed for the misplacement) .. and this project is still rendering wrong ... and still presenting a correct timeline :O

for now i was able to see a real misplacement on timeline only in 1 project.
Comment 20 Davy Bartoloni 2019-04-16 10:05:43 UTC
another strange thing.. now i re-tried to open the misplaced project (with misplaced effects diplayed on timeline) .. and the transitions are correctly placed (and the rendering is desoncronized)
i can't see anymore the de-sync issue on my old projects... i will able to fix one of these just one time... and now i can't rendering correctly any 19.04 project :(
Comment 21 emohr 2019-04-16 16:06:19 UTC
What you can do is test with a “clean install”: Win+r -> appdata -> local -> delete the “Kdenlive” folder and the “Kdenliverc” & “KDE…” file. Start Kdenlive.

i delete all kdenlive related files and folders at every test. :(

this project is rendering fine... :o

this is the end of the project i fixed when i see the misplacements,
reading it now appears again completely wrong.. but when i render it... the result is perfectly syncronized.

i've no idea why i see (just 1 time) the project with misplaced transitions.
i can't reproduce again.

new project created by latest 19.04 beta

this is the new project with files (and aoutput rendering) just created
with latest 19.04 beta build portable.
just import project, re-map the 2 image .. and start rendering of final
section.. my result is always desyncronized.

Audio and video tarcks are also de-synced

after 20 test changing averything.. i was able to open again an old project,
and there are again the misplacement, but the VERY STRANGE THING is that
audio and video tracks (audio not disconnected from video track) are also de-synced.. and i can move the track left or right with the audio track shifted by some seconds on the future! this mean that the de-sync is happening when creating a project... but on the time line averything seems ok.
Comment 26 emohr 2019-04-16 19:50:26 UTC
Downloaded your test project and rendered just the timeline zone you set with the direct Windows compiled version and with the portable version running from a USB-Stick.

I get rendered a MP4 with exactly what I see on the timeline: only a small dot.

Let me think about what happen here.

BTW: Thank you for hard testing.

i will wait for next official release for Windows 64 to do more tests :)

Hi Davy. Please try with the uploaded version 19.04.0-2. Either the install version or the portable version.
Comment 29 Davy Bartoloni 2019-04-24 18:06:21 UTC
i tried with 19.04 and now with th e19.04.0-2 but still wrong rendering...
BTW... i think that the issue can be the project itself (but i can't understand why the preview is working well)

Video and Audio (not splitted) are desynced!

i loaded an hold project... (19.04) and again on 19.04.0-2 release for windows, a single track (video+audio) has video and audio desynced after a while...

moving video track.. the audio track is moving also (the audio is not un-grouped) but by some seconds of distance (!!!)

Wrong "lenght" and "timing" for video/title tracks, not effects!

Wow, today, starting at the same time the official 19.04 release for Windows, and the new (today) PORTABLE BETA... and opening the same example i posted...

i was able to see the misplacement! .. and surprise... it was a displacement on CLIPS... and not a misplacement on EFFECTS! see the image, what i can't understand is why other tester doesn't see the displacement on my example... (seems a "malformed" project issue...)
Comment 32 Davy Bartoloni 2019-04-28 07:21:17 UTC
[UPDATE] i was not able AGAIN to reproduce the issue ... i started the 2 version of Kdenlive a lot of times.. and i can't see the displacement anymore... but the attachment of previous post is a nice pic.. and also the video about the audio/video desync is a good proof about the issue... maybe can be nice to add a "PARSER" to project loading that write a LOG about something strange happened composing the timeline (for example... write a warning about Audio and Video tracks with different starting points.) and also... transitions starting before and after a track... just to address the issue.
Comment 33 emohr 2019-05-01 10:36:49 UTC
Added to issue https://invent.kde.org/kde/kdenlive/issues/78 as it crash with Italien keyboard: https://invent.kde.org/kde/kdenlive/issues/78
Comment 34 Davy Bartoloni 2019-05-13 07:39:47 UTC
Kust created a small application to CONVERT Italian(comma) projects to Standard(point) projects

example:
Comment 35 Davy Bartoloni 2019-05-13 07:46:23 UTC
from:
<entry producer="producer2" in="00:00:00,000" out="00:00:02,760">
to
<entry producer="producer2" in="00:00:00.000" out="00:00:02.760">

and all other changes... after replacing all the comma with points
i'm able to open project on Italian Windows version with replaced "comma" with "point" on Localization/Regional settings

and when i open the project i have now the Misplacements visible (all effects/transitions are in wrong place)..

this seems that Emohr is right.. the issue is the "," or "." on regional settings.

i suggest to replace the "," or "." with another symbol...

for example:
from
<tractor id="tractor2" in="00:00:00.000" out="00:13:37.120">
to
<tractor id="tractor2" in="00:00:00|000" out="00:13:37|120">

and also
from
<tractor id="tractor2" in="00:00:00,000" out="00:13:37,120">
to
<tractor id="tractor2" in="00:00:00|000" out="00:13:37|120">

this make the projects equal on different regional settings.
after that manage the replacement of | directly on Kdenlive loading function.

this make the line:
  <property name="kdenlive:docproperties.decimalPoint">.</property>

unnecessary.
Comment 36 emohr 2020-07-14 18:07:59 UTC
Comma point issue is fixed with version 20.08.0.
