SUMMARY I removed the top row of instructions - file, etc etc. And cannot get them back. How can I do that. There isn't a way withing the program to do that. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Launch kaddressbook 2. Choose to remove the top row of instructions like file etc. 3. Get stuck and cannot reinstate them OBSERVED RESULT I tried doing a full remove and purge. But when I reinstall I am still stuck with the reduced version. There should be an easy way to toggle between with and without the top row. Thanks EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
How do you remove it ?
Created attachment 119175 [details] kaddressbook.jpg Thanks for your email. Remove the top line of things like 'file' etc, is an option. But I can't get back to having 'file' etc. I enclose a screenshot of what I am stuck with. Incidentally, when I asked for kaddressbook to not show the top row it came up with a message giving me instructions on how to restore the top row. But I can't remember what they were. It was some key combination. Thanks for any help All hte best R
Created attachment 119176 [details] attachment-22538-0.html Sorry, in conclusion I am missing: File Edit View Actions Settings Help As per this: https://kde.org/images/screenshots/kaddressbook.png <https://kde.org/images/screenshots/kaddressbook.png> Can you please tell me how to restore that line ? I want to be able to see: File Edit View Actions Settings Help I have tried a full uninstall and reinstall. But when reinstalled it does not retrieve File Edit View.. etc. Thanks R
Re-installing packages does never change configuration files in your home directory. I suggest to check kaddressbook related files in ~/.config and ~/.local/share
Created attachment 119177 [details] attachment-23689-0.html Dear Christoph MANY THANKS!!! That did it! I searched out the file in config and the folder in local share and deleted them both. This was after having uninstalled and purged kaddressbook. I then restarted and reinstalled. And I now have the top row again!! (Incidentally the method for getting rid of the top row is under settings show menubar and show toolbar. But those settings vanish when you untick the blue boxes and start kaddressbook without them. A bug!! Thanks again and kind regards from England. Where today we have some sunshine mixed with grey skies. Where in the world are you Christoph? R

I am in the European Union ;) Political sarcasm aside, here in Germany the sun is also shining. Glad I could help.
Created attachment 119179 [details] attachment-23961-0.html Thanks Christoph, I guessed you were in the EU but wasn't sure where. It was very kind of you to be so helpful. Genuinely helpful. As you can perhaps guess I am a newbie to both Linux and Kubuntu. But I am really enjoying Kubuntu and glad I moved away from both Windows and OSX. It has been challenging at times, especially with my touchpad drivers. But I am more or less there. I am in Leicester which is in the midlands of England. Thanks again Robert
Created attachment 119180 [details] attachment-24786-0.html Sorry, but one final question. Does kaddressbook automatically store your list of contacts anywhere. And more importantly does it upload them to a server somewhere or other in the cloud? I am concerned about privacy and security, so I only want to deal with the contacts on my laptop. Not have them stored in the cloud. Many thanks Robert
