Description A. Kelly 2019-03-21 22:11:32 UTC
SUMMARY
When using falkon:start as new tab page, opening a new tab doesn't focus the search not address bar. As you can't use the tab key to select either field, you are required to use your mouse to be able to navigate to a webpage or to start a search.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set falkon:start as page for new tab (in my case falkon:start is my homepage and my new tab is set to my homepage)
2. open a new tab
3. type a search/url

OBSERVED RESULT
The search field/address bar are not in focus and no search/URL can be input without clicking on said fields with the mouse.

EXPECTED RESULT
When opening the tab the search field is automatically selected and you can immediatly browse the web.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Kernel 4.19
KDE Plasma Version: 5.15
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.56
Qt Version: 5.12

On setting falkon:start as new tab page, the falkon:start page loads up by default which itself has a search bar and that is in focus so you can directly write your query there. The page acts just like any other search engine page where on opening that page the search field is in focus. As such why do you want the address bar to be in focus?

The bug I'm reporting is that the search bar is NOT in focus when opening the new tab, nor the address bar. Sorry for not making that clear enough.

Alyx, can you please retest on Falkon 3.1.0. I have just tested and opened a tab with falkon:start and the search bar was ready to be typed in.
