SUMMARY
On a laptop (HP probook 450 G5), after the lid closes and is reopened, kicker loses its binding to the meta key.  The other meta key shortcuts still work and alt+F1 works.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Close the lid of the laptop. The power settings are set (on power, battery and low battery) to "do nothing"
2. Upon opening the lid, the meta binding to kicker is lost.  This happens 80% of the time.  The alt+F1 binding still works.  The other meta+XYZ bindings still work (I have meta+T configured to toggle touchpad and it always works.)
3. Also, before I installed synaptics, the touchpad would lose its tapping ability.  This has abated since I installed synaptics.
4. Logging out remedies the problem.
